Took a break from watching Christmas shows...

And instead I Googled running topics. I'm kind of annoyed. More than kinda I guess,  considering I am writing this post... My first ever double post in a day.

The absolute smallest thing annoyed me.

I was thinking about my run today and about how the time was AWFUL but nonetheless, I ran a mile and because of that I choose to be proud of myself. I ran a *... sigh... * 14 minute mile.  I keep reading everywhere about people running a 7 minute mile and that's awesome. I'm hoping that will be me in a few months. I'm not stupid enough to think that I can just jump off my couch and run that fast. I'm also not stupid enough to think that a month from now I'll still be running a 14 minute mile. I'll be going faster (as long as I keep trying!) And that's what will keep me going.

I have a point so I guess I'll get straight to it. I know how I am about dragging my speeches on...

Everyone has to start somewhere. Noone just up and runs a 5 minute mile without hard work and dedication.  Every first place race winner has a story of their success that begins less than favorable.  But they held on and trudged through the hard times and worked to earn the title of first place.

(ok.... Now I'll get to my point, I promise!)

I was reading a blog about how even people who jog/run 10+ minutes per mile deserve some respect. That, sure,  some people walk a faster mile.  But regardless, we are running still, We are pushing our body to its limit. I totally agree with this person.  Even when I run a 8 minute mile ill still agree.

She also wrote that the audience should cheer on the last people to finish just as much as they did for the first few. I agree with this as well.  I believe that if you worked hard to cross that line,  you deserve a cheer.

I scrolled down to the comments and was for some reason completely outraged by someone's remark.

This lady commented about how everyone should cheer harder for the last finishers in a race because '' odds are they worked harder to get there''

*crickets in the background*

Seriously?!? You think that the person who just ran a 5 minute mile didn't work as hard as you did?

Is she crazy? I don't care who you are,  if you run a 5 minute mile you had to have worked your butt off to get there.

But she thinks that just because her 12 minute was hard she worked harder? I highly disagree with that.  HIGHLY.

Now, I totally believe that even if you ran a 16 minute mile,  as long as you tried your hardest,  you did great. Some people can't even run a mile so good for you getting out there and busting your butt to get there.

But that person who finished first deserves a cheer just as much as that last place person does. Maybe they don't need it as much,  but they still deserve it.  I'm sure that the previous months (years?) of hard work entitles them to it.

Sigh.  Now I'm sure I don't even make sense.

Just know that lady annoyed me.

BUT it won't ruin my mood for long!  :) I talked it out and I feel better now! Thanks to anyone out there who just sat through yet another one of my Tiffany rants!

Until next time!
